Celebrating Excellence in Education at the Indiana Educational Excellence Awards Gala
On November 21, 2025, an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie filled the heart of Indianapolis as hundreds of educators gathered for the fourth annual Indiana Educational Excellence Awards Gala. This prestigious event showcased the remarkable achievements of educators and institutions dedicated to fostering student growth and learning across the state.

During the gala, nearly $270,000 was awarded to schools and educators. This generous distribution of funds emphasized the critical role that outstanding teaching plays in enhancing student learning experiences. Dr. Katie Jenner, Indiana’s Secretary of Education, addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of innovative strategies in the realms of reading, math, and high school education. Honors Bestowed
Among the honorees was Katie Lanter, a dedicated 7th-grade English/Language Arts and Reading teacher from South Ripley Junior High. Lanter was recognized as a recipient of the Milken Educator Award, an accolade that honors educators who are making a significant impact in their students’ lives. Her commitment to nurturing her students’ educational journey exemplifies the spirit of the evening.

Another standout was Batesville High School, which garnered recognition as an Indiana Blue Ribbon School, the only high school in the state to achieve this honor. The event celebrated the hard work of its educators, including Ag teacher Cassie Wallpe, English teacher Liz Schory, and Principal Andy Allen, who all played vital roles in elevating the school’s learning environment.
