Yellow Medicine East Boys Basketball Team: A Look Ahead to the 2025-26 Season
GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East (YME) boys basketball team is gearing up for a season of growth and ambition as several key players return to their starting lineup. After finishing their previous season with a record of 2-14 in the Camden Conference and 3-23 overall, the Sting are ready to make strides and evolve on the court.
Leadership and Returning Talent
At the forefront of YME’s campaign will be Kia Greycloud, a standout 6-foot-2 guard entering his senior season. Greycloud had an impressive junior year, earning an All-Area Honorable Mention while averaging 18.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
“Kia is a very talented player for us,” said head coach Logan DeBlieck. “He facilitates our offense as our primary guard, not only scoring but assisting his teammates as well. Kia works hard and wants to get better every day. We are excited to see how he collaborates with our young core to elevate their game.”
Season Schedule
As anticipation builds for the season, fans can look forward to an exciting lineup that kicks off with a match against Lakeview on December 2. Here’s a snapshot of their key games throughout the season:
- December 2: vs. Lakeview

- December 5: vs. ACGC
- December 8: vs. Canby
- December 16: at RCW
- December 22: at RRC

The schedule will challenge the Sting as they face off against a variety of competitors, aiming to build on their performance from last season.
Supporting Cast
In addition to Greycloud, YME boasts returning forwards Gavin Torvik and Gunnar Fagen, both of whom are expected to play pivotal roles this season.
Torvik, a 6-4 senior, contributed an average of 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season. “Gavin is a tall, explosive athlete who has put a lot of work into his game to become a better scorer,” DeBlieck remarked. “He will see an increased role offensively and defensively as he leads our young core.”
Fagen, now a 6-4 sophomore, made an impact in his freshman year, contributing 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. “Gunnar is the type of kid you can put at any position on the court, and he will find success,” DeBlieck noted. “He’s a smart player capable of leveraging his size and athletic ability to his advantage. We are excited for what he’ll demonstrate this season.”
Key Departures
While the team boasts returning talent, YME will have to adjust to the losses of key players Jacob Peterson, Eric Jimenez, and Brady Dahlager. Their contributions were felt last season, and the Sting will need to fill these gaps effectively to enhance their competitiveness.
Coaching Staff
Under the guidance of DeBlieck, alongside assistant coaches Landon Anderson and Troy Nelson, the Sting are prepared for what promises to be a dynamic and transformational season as they aim to lay a foundation for future success.
Looking Forward
As the Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team sets their sights on improvement, the combination of experienced leadership and young talent could pave the way for a more formidable season in the coming months. Fans will be eager to watch how the Sting harness their potential and respond to the challenges ahead.
